Your wedding, YOUR WAY. You could get married at your favorite place: the beach, at the park, by the river, in the rainforest, or in the privacy and comfort of your own backyard. At minimum, you must declare or assent before the officiant and your two legal witnesses that you wish to be married and then we can all sign your marriage paperwork and get it recorded. Yes, it can be just that easy.
Provide me the date, start time, and exact details of your chosen ceremony location that can be found via GPS, and tell me whether any hiking or off-road travel is required or any obstacles there are to reach the ceremony location, and I can provide you a precise quote. see example rates
PAYMENTS: Cash is always preferred and a receipt will be provided, but your local check is also welcome. Full payment is due before ceremony begins and is 100% non-refundable. Make checks payable to Carmen Lane LLC / Short and Sweet Ceremonies.
CREDIT CARD FEES: Add 3.5 percent if paying by credit card. Paying by CC must be prearranged. All payments are 100% non-refundable. When instructed to pay, please use this link if paying by CC: https://pay.carmenlane.com/officiant
MARRIAGE LICENSE REQUIRED. A valid marriage license is required for weddings. Wedding couples do not need to be residents of the State of Washington or U.S. citizens to obtain a marriage license. Please check directly with the county auditor for specific marriage license application instructions.

TWO WITNESSES ARE REQUIRED. It is your responsibility to obtain two legal witnesses for your wedding ceremony. Let me know if you are not from this area or if you do not have two witnesses so we can discuss options.
❤️Option #1. Ceremony at Couple's Chosen Location $350 - $1500+

❤️Option #2. Quick No-Frills Elopement at Officiant's Location $300+
Also called the "SIGN & GO" option. No fuss, no fanfare, no groups. Just you and your two witnesses come as you are to my Olympia location to sign your marriage paperwork. Easy. Simple. Fast. If you are deploying soon, in a rush, or want ZERO hoopla, this is the way to do it. During Covid, the wedding couple and their 2 witnesses would opt to remain inside their car in my driveway and I would greet them with a clip board and walk around their vehicle to obtain signatures one by one. But Post Covid, you can come inside my studio, the five of us could have a quick ceremony, sign your marriage paperwork out of the weather inside my little studio (or do it outside if weather is nice), and then off you go. I dress very casually for sign & go or impromptu elopements at my location. You can dress casually or go formal, whatever you like. I am happy to take a group photo of you afterwards, if you like.
What to expect after officiant confirms your request:
Sorry, NO GROUPS at my location. Just the wedding couple and their 2 witnesses. My little home art/writing studio is where we can sign your marriage paperwork safely out of the weather. Or we can do it outside if weather is nice. But my little office is not fancy and cannot accommodate groups, pets, or children. Parking is limited. If you will have more than just your two legal witnesses with you, please choose option for ceremony at your chosen location so that I may travel to you or we can meet at your favorite place in Olympia, Lacey, or Tumwater to perform the ceremony and sign your marriage paperwork. Thank you for understanding.
Let me know if you are not from here. I am happy to offer suggestions on great places to get married locally. Call if you have any questions or special requests 360-280-0888.

❤️Option #3. DIY CEREMONY (Do-It-Yourself): FREE!?
Well, you cannot actually officiate your own wedding ceremony, but if you have a relative or friend who meets the legal criteria to solemnize marriages per RCW 26.04.050 you could always ask them to officiate your ceremony for you at no charge. It could be another connection, another fond memory for you and your family. Whether or not you choose me to be your officiant, please know that I wish you a beautiful ceremony and a lifetime of happiness together. 😊🙏💕

Joining people in marriage is the absolute best part of my day. Pre-marriage counseling is not a legal requirement and so I do not expect you to pay for counseling before I will officiate your ceremony. If you are ready, so am I.
A valid marriage license and two legal witnesses are all you legally require to be married by your wedding officiant. You can relax and trust that I will guide you through your wedding ceremony step by step.
In the solemnization of marriage no particular form is required, except that the parties thereto shall assent or declare in the presence of the minister, priest, imam, rabbi, or similar official of any religious organization, or judicial officer solemnizing the same, and in the presence of at least two attending witnesses, that they take each other to be spouses.
Afterwards, I'll instruct everyone where to sign and I will handle the recording of your marriage health certificate with the county of issue and provide you a tracking number if it is not to be recorded in person.
If you are applying remotely for your marriage license, I recommend obtaining it from Thurston County
And obtain at least 3 certified copies of the recorded marriage health certificate from the county auditor after it has been recorded. A certified copy serves as your legal proof of marriage.

Name Changes Are Not Automatic
After getting married, you can change your name, but this is not automatic. You must work with each agency (like the Department of Licensing, Social Security, etc.) to update your records using a certified copy of your marriage certificate.
OBTAIN CERTIFIED COPIES of your recorded marriage health certificate. A certified copy serves as your legal proof of marriage. Then work with each agency to change its record of your name. These may include:
